Nigel Paul is a Chartered Accountant specialising in the reconstruction and rescue of businesses - usually well before they get to an insolvent state. Nominally based in Atherton Bailey's Crawley office, Nigel works with businesses principally in London and the southeast, but also throughout the country and extending to international operations.

As well as helping with recovery strategies, Nigel advises on expansion, financing and operational matters. While still a licensed insolvency practitioner, Nigel no longer takes formal insolvency appointments.

After qualifying in a niche City practice (where he worked for senior Atherton Bailey partner Malcolm Fillmore), Nigel's early career in the profession was spent at Touche Ross (now Deloitte). He then formed his own accountancy and consultancy practice which eventually merged into the predecessor of Atherton Bailey.

Nigel has spent the last 20 years working on various turnaround projects for venture capitalists and owner managers, including acting twice as de facto managing partner of accountancy practices going through change. More recently, Nigel was brought in as finance director of the 4less Group plc (now Baydonhill plc) to float the company on AIM. He was subsequently appointed chief executive to stabilise the business and develop a new management structure.

Nigel lives in central London, from where he also manages a portfolio of personal investments, as well as a second home in Phuket, Thailand.

Outside of work, Nigel enjoys golf and playing the banjo and has a keen interest in particle physics and cosmology. Nigel's first book, The Solar System, was published in 2008.
